In a workshop’s tradition, like Pierre and Gilles or Gilbert and Georges, Vladimir Dubossarsky and Alexandre Vinogradov create in four hands, studying by the partner the stake of the artwork’s attribution. In reaction to radical art, to Sots Art* and to Russian conceptualism, their idea of the pictorial readability spins out and claims a neo-pompier style, directly inherited to the socialist realistic aesthetic.

With their new project, « In the artist’s studio », they unveil a singular and a very desired place, in which sets the act of artistic creation : the Studio.
In the shelter of everyday life, and more largely of external reality, the artist spends his best time in it. Independently of the production, this place is also, far from being open to all, the one of encounters with collectors, critics or even friends.
Nevertheless, it remains a space impregnated of secrets, phantasms and creative energies, thanks to what the artist gives birth to his works. Each artist models his studio as his self-image ; then intimately related, the very personal dimension of this space reflects the artist’s soul.
The presented works deliver to the spectator a new travel through the reality of the famous duet’s artistic closeness, the backside of their work, by representing their studio in situations that really happened, that could happen, or others totally fanciful. Thus, the view of Moscow, depicted on the triptych of the feminine nude, is all very well the one that we have from Dubossarsky & Vinogradov’s studio ; however, the appearance of wild animals results from their imaginary.
The staging of the exhibition aims to make with the pictorial installation, the light and the sound, a sacred and mystic space, metaphor of the studio as a temple of creation.
